What We Believe

1.    About the Bible

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscript, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it is the only authority in matters of our faith and conduct.

2.    About God

We believe that there is one living and true God, who is plural in nature, existing eternally in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that they are equally perfect and divine in every way, carrying out distinct but harmonious roles in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.

3.    About The Father

We believe in God the Father, who is infinite, who is spirit, who is personal, who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He is mercifully concerned for mankind and that He hears and answers prayer, and that He will save from sin and death, all who come to Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.

4.    About The Son

We believe in Jesus Christ, who is God’s only personally born Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary.  We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe that through His substitutionary death we can be cleansed from sin.  We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into Heaven and that He continues there to intercede for His people.  We believe that He will personally and visibly return to earth and that it could happen at any moment.

5.    About the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who the Father and the Son sent to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment to come.  He was sent to regenerate people, to set them apart for holy living and ministry, and to empower all them who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding Comforter, Helper, Teacher, and Guide.

6.    About Human Beings

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, guilty and under condemnation.  We believe that those who confess and repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are forgiven, cleansed, and reborn spiritually by the Holy Spirit.

7.    About The Church

We believe that the universal Church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members.  It is made up of local church assemblies consisting of believers in Jesus Christ, who have been baptized after professing their faith in Christ, and who have committed to worship Him together, walk with Him together in fellowship and growth, and work for Him together in service to the body. We believe that God has laid the task of advancing His kingdom to a lost world upon the members of the local church.

8.    About The Church’s Ordinances

We believe that Jesus Christ has committed to the local church two ordinances – baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the Biblical form of baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the Name of the Triune God. This baptism is the outward expression of an inward experience with Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ in memorial of His death and in looking forward to our reunion with Him in Heaven.

9.    About Church Authority

We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; and therefore, Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.

10. The Last Things

We believe in the personal and visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal happiness of the penitent righteous, and the endless suffering of the impenitent wicked.
